He was predeceased by: his parents, Annie Mae Church Cottrell and Joseph Dorman Cottrell, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Donna Dyer Cottrell; his daughters, Monica Cottrell Wilcox (Tyler) and Valerie Cottrell Langdon (Daniel); his grandchildren, Levi Langdon, Judson Wilcox, Tate Langdon, Ayla Wilcox, Dottie Langdon, Blakely Langdon, Annie Wilcox and Caroline Wilcox; and his sister Penny Cottrell Ball (Bob). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and countless dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Trinity Baptist Church of Asheville (216 Shelburne Rd, Asheville, NC 28806). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Pisgah View Memorial Park (1529 Smokey Park Hwy, Candler, NC 28715).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund.
