He was predeceased by: his parents, Hobert Hipps and Zulie Smith Hipps of Shelby, NC.; his wife Linda Hollifield Hipps; his siblings, Dwight of Shelby, NC, Paul of Shelby, NC, Harold Hipps of Shelby, NC and Glady Galloway of Shelby; and his siblings' children, Tony, Shane Hipps and Lisa Marie Hipps Crawford.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon Hipps Rice (Rusty) of Asheville, NC and Michael Hipps of Arden, NC; his grandchildren, Rachel Rice Surrett (Charlie), Hannah Rice (Chris), Branson and Austin Hipps; his great grandchildren, HazeLee Marie and Hunter Daniel Haymore; and his siblings, Dorothy Stoup (Michael) of Shelby, NC and Jerry Hipps (Judi) of Shelby, NC.
