He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton R. Slater and Pauline Slater. He is survived by: his wife Louise Rogers Slater; his children, Cari West (Mike West) of Old Fort, Clayton Slater (Francesca) of Asheville, Luke Slater of Asheville and Philip Bell (Raley) of Asheville; and his grandchildren, AJ and Samantha West. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Rainbow Community School (60 State St, Asheville, NC 28806).
