It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Walter McKinney Franklin of Asheville, North Carolina, born in Charlotte, North Carolina, who passed away on March 19, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter McKinney Franklin, Sr. and Willie Stowe Franklin. He is survived by: his wife Martha Taggart Franklin; his children, Walter McKinney Franklin, III of Asheville, John C. Lockhart (Sandy) of Swampscott, MA, Howard Perry Lockhart of Glenn Allen, VA, Pamala Franklin Hardin (Phillip) of Banner Elk and Jeanne Lockhart Salas (Frank) of Cary, NC; and his grandchildren, John C. Lockhart, Jr., Zac Lockhart Salas and Hallie Victoria Salas. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
