He was predeceased by : his parents, Roy Sidney Smith and Kitty Elouise Smith. He is survived by : his siblings, Nancy Ramsey of Hudson and Harry Smith of Banner Elk; his niece Lou Anne Annas (Neil) of Granite Falls; his nephew Jake Ramsey (Robin) of Hickory; and his friends, Rick Hamby, Rick Gentry, Lisa Jones, Paul and Bobbie Smith.
