He was predeceased by : his parents, Ruby Oates and Vernon Oates; and his daughter Tina Oates Brady. He is survived by : his wife Carolyn Albright Oates; his children, Todd Oates (Pam) of Bennett, Chad Oates (Jill) of Siler City, Kelly Wilson (Danny) of High Point and David Saunders (Jamie) of Ramseur; and his brothers, Bill Oates of Bennett, Tim Oates (Cheryl) of Mebane and Ricky Oates of Bennett.
