It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Edna Holmes Gilbert of Benson, North Carolina, who passed away on August 28, 2021, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John S. Holmes and Annie Rose Holmes; her husband Talmadge Andrew Gilbert; and her siblings, Chrystelle Allen, Velma Williams, Clara Harden, Herman Holmes and Garland Holmes.
She is survived by: her daughters, Kay Upchurch (Kenneth) of Buies Creek, Arlene Young (Carroll) of Benson and Sherry Howard (Jeff) of Benson; her grandchildren, Russell Upchurch (Beth), Kimberly Miller (Dustin), Anita Holmes, Carrie Banks (Derek), Cole Howard and Jonathan Howard; her great grandchildren, Noah Upchurch, Seth Upchurch, Abby Miller, Dusty Miller, Blake Miller, Eli Holmes, Hannah Holmes and Hannah Banks; and her sister Gladys Blackmon of Benson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In accordance with NC-COVID19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Benson P.F.W.B.
