He was predeceased by : his parents, John William Coffey and Helen Marie Townsend Coffey; his daughter Lilly Nicole Coffey; his sisters, Verlene Huffman and Ruby Winebarger; his daughter-in-law Melissa Coffey; and his sister-in-law Brenda Coffey.
He is survived by : his wife Laura Tester Coffey of Boone; his children, Raynette Tester of Ashe County, Crystal Tunis (David) of Kingsport, Tennessee, Amanda Coffey of Ashe County, Laura Coffey of Boone, John Coffey of Boone and Richard Tester of Boone; his grandchildren, Nalla, Amie, Shyanne, Cassie, Kamron, Ashley, Kristy and Gracie; and his siblings, Bonnie Coffey of Boone, Jessie Coffey (Barbara), Howard Coffey, Lonnie Coffey (Linda) and Daniel Coffey (Edith). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
