He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Marcellas Bentley, Sr. and Bernie Warren Bentley; and his siblings, Ruth Bentley Cross, Hugh Bentley, L. M. Bentley, Jr. and Wrenn Bentley.

He is survived by: his spouse Shirley Smith Bentley; his son Jeff Bentley of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his grandchildren, Jessica Bentley and Andrew Bentley; his great grandchild Landon Bentley; and his sister Fay Jean Brinkley. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
