He was predeceased by : his parents, James Artis Snipes, Sr. and Carolyn Evon Moffett; his grandparents, Riley and Myrtle Snipes; and his brother Victor Snipes.

He is survived by : his wife Andrea Burnette Snipes; his children, Jasmine Snipes (Huey McBride) of Fayetteville, NC and Jamar Dominique Medley (Kristy Barton) of Burlington, NC; his stepsons, Joey Covington and Jordan Covington of Burlington, NC.; his siblings, Fotini Renee Nixon (Kenneth) of Raeford, NC, Despina Marie Cuffee (Otis) of Elberton, Noah Snipes of Phoenix, AZ and Walton Moffett of Salisbury, NC.; his grandchildren, Carter McBride, Taylor Jeffries, Kolden Medley, Karson McBride and Edyn Medley; his nieces and nephews, Malena Snipes, Adrienne Marnae Snipes, Emily Thompson, Tamiyah Snipes, Tiana Snipes, Trinity Snipes, Despina Jenkins, Jalen Snipes, Keilon Reed Snipes, Xavier Nixon, Albert Parker III, Allen Parker, Bryce Snipes, Will Burnette and Trey Burnette; his stepmother Cynthia Snipes; his siblings-in-law, Artis Burnette Jr. (Debbie) and Cassandra Harper (Randall); his father-in-law Artis Burnette Sr. (Marilyn); and his great-aunt Mable Pinnix. He is also survived by great nieces and great nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Over the years, Artis played in several golf tournaments and charity games across North Carolina.
