He was predeceased by: his parents, Graham Horner Kirkpatrick, Sr. and Dorothy Edith Kennedy Kirkpatrick. He is survived by: his son Ronald Gray Kirkpatrick, Jr.; his wife Tina of Graham; his grandchildren, Trey, Mary Anna, Peter, Grace, Claire and Ladd; his brother Graham Horner Kirkpatrick, Jr.; his wife Sandra of Burlington; his sister Fonda Brittain (Daniel) of Hickory; and also, Randall Scott Kirkpatrick (Christina) of Pinehurst, Matt Horner Kirkpatrick (Lisa) of Raleigh and Linda Kirkpatrick. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
