She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Whichard and Hattie Brinkley Whichard; her daughter Nannie Bair; and her siblings, Mable Newman, Edna Lane, James Whichard and Thomas Whichard.
She is survived by: her spouse Jan Hooft; her children, Jan Campito (Mark), Kim Bair (Bruce), Veronica Botzis (Nick), Christian Hooft (Carol), Pieter Hooft (Cindy) and John Starr; and her brothers, Charles Whichard (Jan), Terry Joe Whichard (Wanda) and Raymond Whichard. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1200 West Cornwallis Road, Durham, NC 27705-5731.
