He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Dewey and Viola Byrd McKinney; his wife Evelyn Hadley McKinney; his son Neal McKinney; and his siblings, James Allen McKinney, Aubrey McKinney, William McKinney, Sylvester McKinney, Elizabeth Foster and Nina Cale.
He is survived by: his children, Dana McKinney (Donna) of Burlington and Sylvia Williams (George) of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Rachel Wilborn (Travis), Adam McKinney (Karaline), George M. Williams and Sarah Williams; his great grandchildren, Aurora, Alyssa and Alexavier; and his siblings-in-law, David Cale, Harry Wilson and Jeanette Hadley. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to be made to Graham Friends Church at 700 N Main St. Graham or a favorite charity.
