She was predeceased by : her parents, Edd Howell and Ruby Smith Howell; her spouse Lealon Buchanan; her brother Herman; her sister-in-law Maisie Robinson Howell; and her grandson-in-law Clay Autrey.

She is survived by : her children, Carroll R. Buchanan (Cynthia) of Grassy Creek, Duane E. Buchanan (Linda) of Arbuckle, Kimberly D. Buchanan of Arbuckle and Michelle D. Buchanan; her granddaughters, Allisyn D. Smith (Aaron) of Arbuckle and Lauren E. Buchanan-Autrey of Spruce Pine; and her great grandchild Lachlan K. Smith.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge at 236 Hospital Drive, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
