He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Lee and Nancy Lane Carter; and his sister Susan Sowder. He is survived by: his wife Anita Cameron Carter; his children, Dana Carter Hendrick (Heath Hendrick), Brent (Sara Carter), Seth and Ethan Carter; his godson Brock Holder (London Holder); and his siblings, Marsha Williams, Cindy Bullock and Tim Carter (Melody Carter). He is also survived by eight grandchildren.
