She was predeceased by: her stepmother Sadie Dickens McAuley; her husband Peter of Washington; her children, Tamer Upchurch (Melvin) of Washington and Peter Roger of Washington; her siblings, Lourene Darby, Carrie Newkirk, Cassie Richardson, Ruby Daniels, Wanzie McAuley, Will James McAuley and Emmanuel McAuley; and her sons-in-law, Melvin Upchurch Jim Reed and David Ware, Sr..

She is survived by: her children, Sandra Reed, Jerome (Algiareen) of Washington, Earl (Sandra) of Washington, Rev. Vera Smith (Willie), Laura Ware and Kathy of Washington; her sister Vinell McAuley Pearson; and her sisters-in-law, Johnella McAuley and Ernestine McAuley. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.
