She was predeceased by: her parents, Larry Burrell and Gladys Murray Burrell; and her brother Jake Denver Burrell. She is survived by: her children, Tammy Shipman of Canton and Larry Shipman (Regina) of Stewartstown, Pennsylvania; her siblings-in-law, Ruby Crumpler, Danny Shipman (Kim), James Shipman (Shevondea) and G. L. Shipman (Pat); her grandson Michael Shipman (Mindy); and her stepgranddaughter Gina Jennings. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Haywood County Public Library Children's Department – Canton, 11 Pennsylvania Avenue, Canton, NC 28716 or to Plains United Methodist Church, 2029 Newfound Road, Canton, NC 28716.
