He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Messer and Alma Harvey Messer; and his siblings, Pless, Carroll, Sherrill, Benny Messer, Irene Mashburn and Velma Farmer.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Mathis Messer; his daughter Vicki Messer Parker (Tony) of Canton; his grandson Brady Daniel Barrett (Felicia) of Canton; and his great grandchildren, Sidney Elizabeth of Canton, Daniel Truman of Canton and Mallory Nina Barrett of Canton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
