She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Lee and Ellen Henson Long; her husband Webb M. Smathers; and her siblings, Hazel L. Morgan, Mildred L. Burris, Edwin and Frank Long.
She is survived by: her son Dr. Webb M. Smathers, Jr.; her daughter-in-law Dr. Diane G. Smathers of Clemson, S. C.; her granddaughter Tiffany D. Smathers of Rock Hill, S. C; her sisters-in-law, Mary S. Cook, Ruby S. McKinney (Raymond) of Asheville and Betty P. Long of Canton; and her sibling's children, Mark R. Morgan and Joyce M Dietz (Bill) of Canton.
