Roderick McIver Hartness Obituary
We are sad to announce that on August 10, 2021, at the age of 74, Roderick McIver Hartness of Canton, North Carolina, born in Murphy, North Carolina passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Phyllis Robinson Hartness; his birth father Alexander Winslow McIver; his adoptive father Willard Robert Hartness; his mother Phoebe Caldwell Hartness; his siblings, Richard McIver and Barbara Johnson; and his close friend Bill Idell.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, John and Jesse Dall; his half-sister Doris Reynolds of Georgia; his great-aunt Genell Burnette of Canton; and his close friends, Tommy Pope and Larry Ledford. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Hartness' memory to the Meals on Wheels, 157 Paragon Parkway Suite 300 Clyde, NC 28721, and to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
