Mulhern in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, born in Milton, Massachusetts, who passed away on June 4, 2021, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret J. "Peggy" Gilligan Mulhern; his parents, John Mulhern and Mary Mulhern; and his sisters, Helen Hillier, Ruth Mulhern and Anne Daniel.
He is survived by: his children, Dr. Helen Mulhern Halasz (Tom), Dr. Mary Mulhern Kincaid (John), John Mulhern (Sara Guthleben), Margaret "Meg" Mulhern Manlove (Jon) and Thomas "Tom" Mulhern (Meredith); and his grandchildren, Jack, Elizabeth Halasz, Ellie, Henry Kincaid, Johnny, Abigail, Tommy Mulhern, Evelyn and Thomas Mulhern.
