With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Barbara Marie Abernethy Whitehead (Charlotte, North Carolina), born in Concord, North Carolina, who passed away on August 6, 2021 at the age of 90. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Addie and Abernethy; her husband Howard; and her sisters, Patricia A. Edlund and Helon Sue Abernethy.
She is survived by: her children, Kent Whitehead (Gail) of Florence, SC, Sue Bivens (Tim) of China Grove, NC and Tommy Whitehead (Elizabeth) of Waxhaw, NC.; and her grandchildren, Madeline Whitehead, Will, Meg Bivens, Emily, Addie and Katie Whitehead. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Charlotte Hospice and Palliative Care or to First United Methodist Church.
