She was predeceased by: her parents, William Smith and Elizabeth Smith; her husband Van Stitt, Sr.; and her children, Mattie Sturdivant and Reginald Stitt.
She is survived by: her brother Haywood Smith; her children, Dr. Van Stitt, Jr., Wayne Stitt (Evelyn), Michael Stitt (Sharon), Donald Stitt, Gerald Stitt (Karen), Larry Stitt, Keith Stitt (Judy), Peggy Stitt-Hunter, Jaqueline Stitt and Bonita Stitt; and her grandchildren, Tonya Strong, Sharon Graham, Antonio Alexander, Steven Strong, Rodney Watt, James D. Stitt, Latesha Hunter, Precious Moore, Justin Stitt, Janae Stitt, Brittany Stitt, Breon Stitt, Geri Stitt, Reginald Stitt, Jr., Donald Stitt, Jr., Alicia Stitt, Wayne Stitt, Jr. and Avery Staley. She is also survived by great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
