He was predeceased by: his parents, James Scott and Mollie Gaskill Scott Burnett (Elva Diane Scott); his wife Elva Diane Fredricks Scott; and his siblings, James Alphonso Gaskill, Alva Lee Scott Moore and Roland D. Scott.
He is survived by: his sons, Steven Anthony Scott of Durham, NC. and Herman Peter Scott Jr. of Morehead City, NC; his brother John Clyde Scott; his grandchildren, Herman Peter Scott III, Daniel Scott, Di'Nesha Josey, Steven Brewton, Nastazha Brewton, Kysani Scott and Jaylin Scott; his great grandchildren, Kaison Josey and Carter Josey; his siblings-in-law, Sandra Rutledge, Betty Gaskill and Albert Fredericks; and his close friend Leslie Wells. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Due to Covid 19 considerations, the entire service will be held outdoors.
