It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Boyce Hunter Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina, who passed away on January 3, 2021, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. He is survived by: his aunts, Carrie and Tot Faires; his wife Anne Leak Wyatt of Wadesboro; his niece Anne Sparger Goodwin (Bill) of Laurinburg; his nephew Fred Sparger III (Kandie) of Wadesboro; his great-nephews, William C. Goodwin III (Neal) and James Sparger Hunter Goodwin (Courtney); his great-niece Margaret Sparger Westall; and also, Virginia of William, IV, Suiter of Raleigh, James Jr., Duncan, Greer of Raleigh and J. W. Westall IV of Asheville.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the service will be private and there will be no visitation.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation, 18900 Jefferson Davis Highway, Triangle, VA 22172, or the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at UNC, 101 Manning Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514.
