He was predeceased by: his parents, Bealia Kiger and John Thornton Smith of Rural Hall, NC.; and his sisters, Permelia Fulp, Josephine Smith and Imogene Ashburn.

He is survived by: his wife June Wallace Smith; his children, Mark Wallace Smith (Desiraa) and Christie Smith Cole (Laverne); and his grandson Grayson Davis Cole (Lauren).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
