He is survived by: his parents, B. J. Alt and Debbie Wilkes Alt; his wife Theresa Smith Alt; his children, Danielle Smith and Benjamin Alt; and his brothers, Douglas Alt (Adrienne) and John Alt (Crystal). He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
