It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael Dean Spillars (Charlotte, North Carolina), born in Spindale, North Carolina, who passed away on March 26, 2021, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Luther and Annie Mae Haynes Spillars; his brother Samuel "Sammy" Lee Spillars; and his parents-in-law, Linas James, Margaret Brown Haney and Maddie.
He is survived by: his friends, Harvey Moore, Spindale Boy, Westerns and Shag; his uncles, Big Mike and Mikie; his wife Maria Haney Spillars; his children, Christina Spillars Meadows (Austin) and Michael Brandon Spillars (Megan); his grandchildren, Greyson William, Connor James and Katherine Elizabeth; his siblings, Barbara Spillars Goodman (Vic) and Douglas Curtis Spillars; his siblings-in-law, Kathy Haney Dunn (Mark) and Larry Haney; his nieces and nephews, Meggie Dunn Duda (Carl), Gina Goodman, Tina Goodman Bryant (Tyler), Aaron Dunn and Zachary Dunn (Allison); and his pets, Layla and Winnie. He is also survived by his son, brother-in-law and many special friends.
Masks and social distancing will be observed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Wounded Warrior Project or Spencer Baptist Church in Spindale, NC.
