He was predeceased by: his parents, John Walter and Edith Wease Lowe Barkley; and his sister Doris Poole. He is survived by: his wife Jannette Hicks Barkley; his daughter Brandy Sipe (T. J.) of Lincolnton; his stepchildren, John Oxentine (Paula) of Boone, James Oxentine (Norma) of Cherryville and Teresa Jones (Gene Ray) of Sharon, SC.; and his siblings, Edward Barkley, Harriet Smith, Jackie Lockman and Martha Abee.
