He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. John Alson Lineberry Sr. and Jane Lassiter Lineberry Armstrong; his wife Kathy R. Lineberry; his sister Jacqueline Lineberry; and his stepsister Mary Armstrong Cuthbertson.

He is survived by: his daughter Amanda Bates (Jay); his sister Martha L. McQueen; his stepsister Ruth A. Taylor; and his sibling's children, Angela M. Wells and Angus A. McQueen III.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in John's memory or donations to Faith Baptist Church in Faith, NC, or Thyatira Presbyterian Church in Salisbury, NC, in John's memory.
