She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernest Hyatt and Dolly Hyatt; her husband Rev. Clyde W. Coates; her grandson Christopher Coates; and her siblings, Lonnie Hyatt, Ernest Hyatt, Jr., Frances Alford, Betty Gaddy and Mary Elizabeth Jones.
She is survived by: her children, Wayne Coates (Donna) of Lumberton, Ricky Coates (Barbara) of Calhoun, GA, Marty Coates (Bridgette) of Florence, SC, Randy Coates (Kathy) of Clarkton, Phillip Coates (Jaymie) of Southport, Phyllis Strickland (Ricky) of Clarkton, Candy Mitchell (Troy) of Clarkton and Debbie Scott (Steve) of Winston Salem; her sister Gladys Johnson of Florence, SC; her grandchildren, Darrell Strickland (Allison), Austin Strickland, Jaimie Lilley (Mark), Stefanie Coates, Ricky Coates, Meagan Phillips (Ryan), Tyler Scott (Ashton), Luke Coates, Rachel Coates, Andy Coates (Madison), Alex Coates, Ashtyn Coates and Cassidy Coates; and her great grandchildren, Katie, Josh, Selah, Oliver, Abby Ruth, Charlotte, Cole, Wyatt, Liam, Lily Bess and Henry Keith.
