She was predeceased by: her husband John C. Pope; her parents, Worth B. Lockerman and Daris Royal Lockerman; and her brother Rexford Lockerman of Salemburg. She is survived by: her children, Judy Peterson (Jim) of Birmingham, Deborah Bass (Berry) of Oak Island, Rex Pope (Denise) of LaRue and Pandora Merritt (Gene) of Wilmington; her sister LaRue Chuman (Tom) of Bath; her nephew Andy Elliott (Becky) of Elizabeth City; and her grandchildren, Brent Peterson, Derek Peterson, Matt Peterson, Andrea Bass Provencher, Geoff Bass, Ryan Pope, Christina Merritt, Trey Merritt and Ashton Merritt Wrightson. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Methodist Home for Children, 1041 Washington Street, Raleigh, NC 27605, which was her favorite charity.
