He was predeceased by: his parents, George Leon Thornton, Sr. and Mary Frances Jones. He is survived by: his children, Lesley Thornton Michalski (Christopher) of Newton Grove and George "Leon" Thornton III (Sydney) of Clinton; his brother Keith Thornton (Mary) of Clinton; his grandchildren, Nevaeh Byrd, Brianne, Allison Brewington, Scarlett, Frances Dove and George Leon Thornton IV; his nephew Matthew Thornton; his cousin Pam Copeland (Melba Sutton); and also Tart.
