He was predeceased by: his parents, Eurastus Balkcum and Lula Mae Carter Balkcum; and his siblings, Victor Balkcum, Joe Albert Balkcum, Sam Balkcum, Mae B. Shipp, Belle B. Pope and Emeline B. Herring.
He is survived by: his wife Emojeanne Maynard Balkcum; and his children, James "Jim" T. Balkcum, Jr. (Dot), William A. Balkcum, Charles Mark Balkcum, Jeffrey Maynard Balkcum (Kelly) and Lauren J. Balkcum. He is also survived by four grandsons; and seven great grandchildren.
