He was predeceased by: his parents, James D. McKenzie and Dorothy Fann Jones. He is survived by: his siblings, Jackie M. Jordan (Glenn) and Jamie McKenzie (Gena); his stepfather Wilburn K. Jones; his stepbrother Keith Jones (Leanne); and his nieces and nephews, Kaitlin (Terry), Kelsey (Austin), Jamie, Sarah (Tristen), Dylan, Blair, Garrett and Joel.
In keeping with John's passion, in lieu of flowers, the family asked that the donations be made to the NC Ducks Unlimited Greenwing or the NC Wildlife Habitat Foundation.
