He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Best and Alene Darden Powell. He is survived by: his wife Myrtie Tysinger Powell; his daughters, Sherri P. Fonvielle (Alex) of Raleigh and Lori P. Pearson (Chris) of Clinton; his stepson Jerry E. Tysinger of Kenansville; his brothers, Johnny B. Powell (Linda) of Clinton and Paul D. Powell (Susan) of Wilmington; his grandchildren, Brian C. Pearson of Clinton and Heather P. Caruolo (Kyle) of Cornelius; his stepgranddaughter Keaton M. Fonvielle (Daniel W. Plant) of Fuquay-Varina; and also Kim Matthews.
