She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Lee and Hazel Omega Strickland Ruffin; her daughter Vicky Gardner Garcia; her brother William Ruffin; and her siblings-in-law, Thomas Everett Sessoms and Peggy Ruffin.
She is survived by: her children, Kim Royal of Roseboro, NC and James Gardner of Florida; her siblings, Evelyn Gardner (Felix) of Roseboro, NC, T. L. Ruffin of Garland, NC, Linda Stevens (Worth) of Roseboro, NC and Faye Sessoms of Roseboro, NC; her grandchildren, Shane Gardner (Connie Randolph), Heather Gardner, Tony Gardner, Juan Garcia and Damian Garcia; and her great grandchildren, Carman Galban, Ariel Vazquez, Antonio Lee Lopez, Elijah Randolph and Layla Burgess.
