Shirley Oates Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Shirley Oates of Clinton, North Carolina, who passed away on September 19, 2021 at the age of 85. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Festus Sutton and Sallie Harrell Sutton Daughtry; her husband Harold Oates; her son Curt Oates; her siblings, Curtis, Charlie Sutton and Carlese Sutton Herring; and her brother-in-law James Grady Herring.
She is survived by: her granddaughter Holly Oates-Barker (Will Barker) of Wilmington; her daughter-in-law Debbie Tyndall; her sisters-in-law, Linda Hyatt and Carolyn Sutton; her nieces, Pam Sutton, Lynn King (David) and Judy Witherington (Ty); her nephew Woody Sutton; and also Linda Herring of Clinton.
Due to concerns about the transmission of COVID-19, the family will not be receiving people at the home.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her memory to the Baptist Men of Rowan Baptist Church located at 701 Rowan Road, Clinton, NC 28328.
