He was predeceased by: his parents, William M. Bowden, Sr. and Hazel Bowling Bowden; and his brother Rodney Bowden. He is survived by: his wife Candice Bowden; his children, William "Will" Bowden, III (Tara) of Clinton and Karen Jackson (Tommy) of Roseboro; and his grandchildren, Lilly Bowden, Luke Bowden, Ryan Jackson and Casey Jackson.
