He was predeceased by: his parents, Forest Buck and Ethelyn Cooper Owen; his former wife Sophia Daughtry Owen; and his wife Peggy Stancil Owen. He is survived by: his sons, Greg Owen (Melinda) of Clinton and William "Pug" Owen, Jr. of Durham; his granddaughters, Nikki Owens (Jeff) and Sophia Janet Owen (Jackson Stussie); and his siblings, Bobby Owen (Emma Gray), Jack Owen, Johnny Owen (Ruth) and Edna Lou Welch.
