He is survived by: his children, Graylord Swain (Mary) of Colerain, NC, Melvin Swain of New Orleans, LA, Derick Swain of Watkins, MN and Gloria Swain of Ahoskie, NC; his stepson Clarence White of Richmond, VA; and his sister Alma Taylor of Edenton, NC. He is also survived by grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
