With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Genevieve Litchfield of Columbia, North Carolina, who passed away on May 11, 2025 at the age of 98. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Leon Roberson and Ella W. Roughton Weatherly; her husband James Philip Swain Jr.; her siblings, Orville, Sarah Lindholm and Josie Bardi; her stepson Sidney Litchfield; and her stepgranddaughter Chrystal D. Sawyer.
She is survived by: her in-laws, John Philip and Beulah Swain; her friend Easter; her children, James W. Swain (Helen) of Chesterfield, VA, William E. Swain (Cynthia) of Columbia, Len R. Swain (Susan) of Cape Carteret and Karen S. Gerhart (Michael) of Columbia; her stepdaughter Carla L. Sawyer of Columbia; her grandchildren, Jay R. Swain (Kathy), Richard L. Swain (Rebekah), Stacie Swain and Chelsea G. Swain (Andrew); her great grandchildren, Cullen Swain, Henry Swain, Cohen Shands, Kiley Shands, Grady Swain, Genevieve Swain and Erin Swain; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Samantha Boykin and Ashley Adams.
