He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert Lee Hicks, Sr. and Mildred Williams Hicks; his spouse Velna Motley Hicks; and his siblings, Thelma Hicks Spivey (Burl), Thomas Atlas Hicks (Lola), Robert Lee Hicks, Jr. (Mary), Beatrice Hicks Smith Coleman, Martha Hicks Smith (Vince), Edgar Earl Hicks, Mildred Hicks Allen Starcher, Ellis Burdette Hicks Sr. (Gertrude), Gene William Hicks, Glen Austin Hicks and Daniel Kenneth Hicks, Sr. (Martha).

He is survived by : his nephew Daniel Kenneth Hicks, Jr.; his goddaughter Mary Evelyn Allen; his sister-in-law Lenna McEwen Hicks McLean; and his close friends, Marvel and Ralphie. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and dear friends.
