He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd G. Carpenter and Mary Robinson Carpenter; his wife Janice Fisher Carpenter; his son Billy Carpenter; and his siblings, Marion, Floyd, Joe, Wilbert (Bill), Ray, Leonard and Helen Benton.
He is survived by: his children, Allen Carpenter (Kathryn Stephens) and Rebecca Furr (Robert); and his sister Fannie Mae Stegall. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
