He is survived by: his wife Joan Cockett Dalton; his children, Jacob Laurence Dalton (Jesse) of Fuquay Varina, Ashley Dalton Manship of Concord and Lucas Edward Dalton (Stephanie) of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Austin, Morgan, Preston, Emmett, Kanoa, Parker, Isaac, Bentley and Hazel; and his siblings, Lana Dalton, Diana Camp, Rhoda Locklear, Strick Dalton and Olin Dalton.
