She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Robert Lee Smith and Agnes Dorothy Linker Smith; her husband Walter Jerome Barnhardt Jr.; her siblings, Robert Smith and Patty Lusk (Larry); and her sons, Ronald F. Barnhardt (Jamie) and David S. Barnhardt (Sherri). She was also cherished by four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
