He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Ford and Francene Cunningham Ford; his son Franchester Ford; and his siblings, Thomasene F. Byers, David Lee Ford and James Ford.

He is survived by: his wife Rev. Berthenia S. Ford; his children, Anita Ford Evans (Dewayne) of Concord, Faye Gordon (Ivel) of Charlotte, Luther Ford of Concord and Timothy Ford of Concord; his grandchildren, Christian Ford, Joshua Ford, Jacob Evans Ford, Ayana Dunlap and Zane Dunlap; his siblings, Kay Dooley (John) of Kannapolis, Iris Douglas (William) of Concord, Shelia Ford of Charlotte, Barbara Cunningham of Charlotte, Wilbert Ford of Concord and Franklin Ford of Salisbury; his aunt Evelyn Allison of Concord; and his cousin Evelyn Ford Allison. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
