He was predeceased by : his parents, Claude Smith and Mamie Hatley Smith; and his wife Ruth Frye. He is survived by : his children, Jerry Alton Smith (Judy) of Kannapolis and Brenda Greene of Columbia, SC; and his grandchildren, April Stoner, Rodney Smith and David Greene. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
