He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbert Wilkerson, Sr. and Elizabeth Bost Wilkerson; his granddaughter Danica Ford; and his mother-in-law Thelma Black. He is survived by: his wife Mary B. Wilkerson; his children, Rick Wilkerson (Cynthia) of Concord, NC, Karen Wilkerson (Patrick Hunt) of Concord, NC, Melondy W. Parker (James Hough) of Stoney Point, NC, Tammy W. Ford (Darrin) of Concord, NC and Crystal W. Lipscomb (Cassius) of Spartanburg, SC; his siblings, Wilbert Wilkerson, Jr. of Concord, NC, Ronald Wilkerson of Concord, NC and Mary Drye (James) of Concord, NC; and his godchildren, Jacqueline Rucker (Robert) of Kannapolis, NC and Richard Jackson (Shirley) of Huntersville, NC. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
