He was predeceased by: his siblings, Dorothy Ray Freeman, Easter D. Spratt and Stevenson Lee Miller. He is survived by: his wife Carol Smith Miller; his children, Annette M. Patterson of New London, NC, Myndi Smith of Concord, NC, Quinda Parks (Stan), Herman Miller (Abbie) of Concord, NC and Norman Miller of Concord, NC; his stepsons, Kenneth Smith of Norfolk, NE, Marlon Garland (Nina) and Frank Grigley (Demetia); his sister Jeannie C. Miller of Concord; and his niece Paula R. Spratt (Mushy). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
